The Greeks introduced ideals that we live by today (like Democracy). The classical ideals include Existence Can Be Ordered, Human Ability Can Triumph Over Chaos, Perfect Proportions, and Understanding Human Motivations. The Greeks did amazing things and we are following in their footsteps.

He was born around the time of 850 AD, 168 years after the downfall of troy. Homer was known as the first and greatest author of epic poems. His work includes but not limited to Illiad and the Odyssey, both of which are both considered epic poems which include epic heros. Due to the time from in which Homer was alive, his writing mostly includes the trojan war, portraying how big of an impact the war was on the people living in this era. Odyssey: The Odyssey was an epic poem about a man named Odysseus, who was trying to get back to his homeland, Ithaca, after the long trojan war. Odysseus was considered an epic hero because he portrays the clever and advanced thinking of the greek warrior. Just as he thought the fighting was over, he learns that he must battle his way with the gods to advance home to his family who hasn’t heard from him in ten years. The Philosophers Socrates
Plato-Plato was born around the year 428 BCE in Athens. -His writings explored justice, beauty and equality, and also contained discussions in aesthetics, political philosophy, theology, cosmology, epistemology and the philosophy of language. -Plato founded his own Academy, north of athens which is traditionally considered the first university in the western world. - He died in Athens circa 348 B.C. -Plato's work has made an enormous impact on his contemporaries and to those who followed to be philosophers. -one third of his original writing survived. The lost writings include the poetry, letters, dialogues and essays all written in Platonic manner.
